2010 Hyundai ‘YF’ Sonata Illustration

hyundai-sonata_yf_2010_concept_03

Early-bird ‘YF’ 2011 Hyundai Sonata fans YFLove.net have put together this illustration, showing their idea of what we might be able to expect when the camouflage finally comes off the next all-new Sonata.

The new Sonata has been spotted around South Korea in recent weeks during testing, and the more revealing the camouflage becomes, the more we can probably expect to see of these artist renderings. (You will have seen one illustration that’s been floating around for a while now.)

Whatever the eventual lines of the ‘YF’ Sonata, it’s clear that Hyundai’s volume-selling family sedan is taking on a much sharper, style-focused appearance.

From the coupe-like roofline to the long sloping bonnet and sharply angled headlights, Hyundai is obviously planning big things for the 2010 Sonata.

Hyundai Sonata is one of the most famous ones among Hyundai models and indeed all mid-sized family sedans, and I can’t think of a market in which Sonata hasn’t been present during its time. Next year the new generation will be introduced with some dramatic changes over the current model. You can notice some of the new stuffs through these latest spy pictures though…

Although the curves of the body is very well disguised, but the roof line is clearly visible. As you see it has become sleeker and more elegant, but calling it a four-door coupe style seems like a tall order. Specially because the Sonata is an economy family saloon, and that sorta car should not be too fancy! More than that, the next Sonata might not become a four-door coupe because it’ll cost it lots of interior space, and that’s the car’s party piece.

Anyways, we still have to wait to realize how it’ll look with new body lines, lights and grille. Hope that next shots will be clearer with less cover! Next generation Hyundai Sonata will also feature new technologies in tune with times.

The first spy photos of the 2011 Hyundai i40 sedan, which will replace the model Sonata. The car was filmed without camo in South Korea during a promotional photo shoots.

New Hyundai Sonata (i40) is built on a new platform and will be offered with diesel engines series “R”, which also planned to equip crossovers ix35 (replacement Tucson) and Santa Fe. Also in the scheme will gasoline four cylinder with direct fuel injection, developing 115 to 140 horsepower.

In addition, modifications are expected to appear with the hybrid power plant consisting of a 2.0-liter turbo engine (from other sources - 2.4-liter), 30-kilowatt electric motor, lithium batteries and a six-speed gearbox. The total capacity of such a powerplant reaches 228 horsepower.

Hyundai To Unveil 2011 Sonata at 2010 Detroit Auto Show

Quantcast

hyundai-genius-conceptJohn Krafcik, CEO of Hyundai Motor America, told IL that the new car will debut in Detroit, and that its design is “bold, so bold,” which is meant to set the Korean car apart from its supposed “run-of-the-mill” Honda Accord and Toyota Camry competitors. Prototype photos have been circulating for a while now, indicating that Hyundai went for a more “four-door-coupe” look with the redesigned Sonata.

The latest Sonata is expected to use a four-cylinder as its base power plant (V6 is optional), and Hyundai may use direct injection to improve its fuel economy.

The company has also said previously that the 2011 Sonata will be offering the first Hyundai hybrid system that uses unique lithium polymer batteries. Called Hybrid Blue Drive, the system first debuted at the 2009 New York Auto Show in the Nuvis SUV concept, and combined a 2.4-liter four-banger with a 30-kilowatt electric motor to make 228 horsepower.

The standard 2011 Sonata will hit showrooms around summer 2010, with the hybrid following a year later.

2009 Hyundai Tiburon Spy Shots

2009 Hyundai Tiburon I stumbled on some spy shots for the 2009 Hyundai Tiburon this morning, and figured I’d pass them along for your enjoyment. The Tiburon is all covered up, so it’s hard to really make out any details to speak of.

There’s apparently some speculation that the Tiburon may go RWD when the new one debuts in 2009, but I think that’s nonsense. The Tiburon has been FWD since it’s inception, and there’s not a chance that Hyundai would change it. FWD usually means lower cost and better fuel economy, and that’s the way the US market is going.
